are those really equals?
so i'm at the doctor's office on tuesday, my first appointment with my primary care physician. yeah i know i've lived here for a year and i just got a doctor, but urgent care had been working just fine till now... anyway... she was really nice and she's taking my health history, all normal questions: have i ever been hospitalized? had surgery? am i a smoker? do i drink? no, no, no, yes like a fish, then she asks me, do i do drugs, nope, i answer. because it's true, i don't do drugs anymore, and she's all like, not even cocaine? pot? i kinda let out a little laugh... not even cocaine? or pot? when did those two become on equal footing? true, pot is pretty harmless, but i don't think i can say the same thing for coke. and pot is pretty benign, coke is addictive as fuck, another reason i have stayed away... addictive personality table for one! granted coke is pretty widespread in ny, but when did doctors become so accepting of their patients bad habits?
